About This Repair Shop

Cultivating Concord’s Landscapes Since 2000

In the heart of North Carolina, a beautiful lawn is more than just grass—it’s a commitment to the land. Since 2000, Lay of the Land has been the trusted partner for Concord and Charlotte homeowners who take that commitment seriously. Founded by Jerry Beretz in Denton before finding a permanent home in Concord in 2005, our family-oriented business has grown alongside the local landscape while staying true to the neighborly values that started it all.

Whether you are managing a suburban backyard or a large rural property, we understand that the right equipment is the difference between a long day of work and a job well done. We serve a diverse community of gardeners, hobby farmers, and professional landscapers, offering everything from heavy-duty tractors to the specialized parts that keep them running.

Mastery Over Every Engine

Reliability is the cornerstone of any great outdoor project. Our service department brings "informed confidence" to every repair, ensuring that your machinery isn't just running, but performing at its absolute peak. We specialize in the technical nuances that keep modern outdoor power equipment resilient against the North Carolina humidity.

Our Specialized Maintenance and Repair Services:

  • Precision carburetor rebuilding to restore smooth idling and engine efficiency.
  • High-quality blade sharpening for mowers, ensuring a clean cut that protects your lawn’s health.
  • Full-service tune-ups and diagnostics for zero-turns and utility vehicles.
  • Small engine repair for essential handheld tools from blowers to trimmers.
  • Certified service for premier brands including Toro, Bobcat, Hustler, and Big Dog.

The Lay of the Land Edge

What truly sets us apart is our comprehensive approach to the outdoors. We aren't just an equipment dealer; we are a resource for the entire project. Beyond the service bay, we house a massive selection of bulk materials, from specialized sand and stone to fresh mulch, alongside a variety of caged stone sourced from across the country. This means you can pick up your serviced mower and your landscaping materials in the same trip.

As an authorized dealer for LS Tractors, Wright, and American Landmaster UTVs, we offer a specialized inventory that covers the ground, the hardscape, and even the water features. We prioritize long-term customer relationships over quick transactions, ensuring the gear you buy today is the gear that serves you for the next decade.

The vibe at Lay of the Land is grounded, professional, and deeply rooted in faith and family. We’ve become a staple in the Concord and Charlotte area because we never forget where we came from—prioritizing honesty and hard work in every interaction. We focus on providing the highest level of service to ensure your outdoor living is as enjoyable as possible.

When you visit us on Monroe Road, you’re greeted by a team that understands the intersection of machinery and masonry. We look forward to ensuring every neighbor has access to the professional-grade gear and landscaping supplies needed to master their piece of the Carolinas.
