About This Repair Shop

Expert Small Engine Care Since 1953

In the hills of Ramapo, your outdoor power equipment takes a beating from the changing seasons. Whether it’s a snow blower braving a winter storm or a zero-turn mower handling the spring surge, you need a machine that starts every time. At Liberty Small Engine, LLC, we have been keeping Rockland, Orange, and Bergen counties running since 1953. As a family-owned and operated center for over 70 years, we provide the kind of precision and technical focus that only comes from decades of specialized experience.

Led by owner Bob Stritmater, our shop operates with "informed confidence." We don't just "fix" engines; we restore them to factory standards using only original manufacturer replacement parts, ensuring your investment remains protected and reliable for years to come.

Precision Diagnostics and Repair

We believe that a small engine is a piece of high-performance machinery that deserves meticulous attention. Our factory-authorized technicians specialize in the mechanical nuances that generalists often overlook, from electrical charging systems on riding mowers to complex carburetor issues on handheld tools.

Our Specialized Maintenance and Repair Services:

  • Comprehensive engine diagnostics to identify the root cause of performance failures.
  • Fuel system restoration and carburetor rebuilding to keep your gear running like new.
  • Warranty-authorized service for major brands, ensuring professional repairs at no extra cost to you.
  • Factory-spec tune-ups for riding mowers, generators, and even ATV powersport products.

The Liberty Small Engine Edge

What truly sets us apart is the environment we work in and the transparency we provide. When you visit our shop on Liberty Rock Road, you’ll find an immaculate, organized facility that reflects our attention to detail. We pride ourselves on clear communication—providing frequent updates on repair progress and returning your old parts so you can see exactly what was replaced.

Because we understand that getting a heavy tractor or snow blower to the shop can be a hurdle, we offer a convenient pickup and delivery service. Combined with our deep inventory of parts for Stihl, Honda, Toro, and Husqvarna, we offer a turnaround time and level of convenience that is hard to find elsewhere.

A Legacy of Professionalism

The vibe at Liberty Small Engine is one of focused professionalism. We take the time to explain the functionality of your equipment and provide honest, expert advice on whether to repair or replace a tool. We aren’t interested in a quick fix; we want to ensure your generator won't fail you in a storm and your mower won't quit mid-job.

When you trust us with your equipment, you’re tapping into a legacy of craftsmanship that began in 1953. We look forward to providing the quality service and expert repairs that have made us a Rockland County staple for over seven decades.

Ramapo, NY 10974

Professional mower repair shop in Ramapo, NY — Did not repair mower as was hired to do. Serviced it with new blade, battery, fluids and filters - all good. But the MAIN reason for the mower being in shop was a charging problem. On to of that, he charged me almost $70 to pick it up and bring it back-something he had not done in previous work. Lastly, when I called him about the problem, he agreed to continue working on it "next time he's down here". Of course, he never followed up and still has not. It's been months. He charged me almost as much as a new mower would have cost and still didn't fix it. Professional lawn equipment service in Ramapo, NY.
